The EU Player project aims to enhance young people's knowledge of the European Union, strengthen their European identity, and promote active citizenship through innovative non-formal learning methods. A key project output is the development of a collaborative board game that enables young people aged 13 to 20 to explore the values, institutions, and functioning of the European Union through an engaging, interactive, and experiential learning experience.
In parallel, the partnership will develop a training handbook for teachers, youth workers, adult educators, and professionals working with young people, focusing on the use of gamification and Game-Based Learning (GBL) methodologies in educational settings. The project will also deliver international and national training activities for educators, as well as workshops in schools and youth organisations. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the project's methodology will be evaluated through large-scale pilot activities involving thousands of young people and educators across the participating countries.
A strong emphasis is placed on digital innovation and the use of new technologies. The board game will be transformed into a digital application, while educational audiovisual resources and social media campaigns will be developed to maximise the dissemination, visibility, and long-term sustainability of the project's results. In addition, through an online tournament and an international Summer Camp, participants will have the opportunity to become EU Player Ambassadors, acting as multipliers of European values and active citizenship within their local communities.
IEKEP plays an active role in the implementation of the project by contributing to the development of the educational resources, the training of educators and youth professionals, as well as the design of the game's digital version and the project's dissemination tools. Through its participation, IEKEP further strengthens its commitment to promoting innovative educational approaches that foster active European citizenship and meaningful youth participation in democratic life.
EU Player is implemented under the Erasmus+ Programme (KA220-YOU – Cooperation Partnerships in Youth) and is coordinated by YES Forum (Germany). The project consortium also includes Zefiro Società Cooperativa Sociale (Italy), IEKEP – Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (Greece), Finglas Youth Resource Centre (Ireland), ÖJAB – Österreichische JungArbeiterBewegung (Austria), and Nevo Parudimos Association (Romania).
